Helen’s life began on February 8, 1916 near Trinchera, CO. on land homesteaded by her parents. She is the daughter of Homer R. and Sadie Young. She was united in marriage to W.Vic Holman on April 13, 1935 in Wichita. Vic worked for several Kansas banks before he and Helen got the opportunity to purchase the State Bank of Leon which they operated until their retirement. Helen was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church for many years. She is survived by her sons Thomas (Mariam) Holman of Andover and Joseph (Janet) Holman of Overland Park; grandchildren Mike Holman, Kellie (Jim) Gower, Shannon Hilbert, Jeff (Renee) Holman, Kate (Justin) Serrano, Vickie Ridenour, Janet (Bob) Bauman and Lisa Branch; and 13 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Helen passed away on October 6, 2017 at Life Care Center of Andover. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vic, daughter Karen Holman, four sisters and one brother. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Leon United Methodist Church where her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Jim Helzer. She will be laid to rest in Leon Cemetery. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Leon United Methodist Church.
