Shirley Marie Moore

Shirley Marie Moore, 83, formerly of El Dorado, passed away on September 15th, 2023.

Shirley was born to Charles and Viola (Houser) Wheeler on April 2nd, 1940, in Virgil, Kansas.

She graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1958. Shirley then went on to get her cosmetology license from Vernon’s Cosmetology School in Wichita, Kansas. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Gerald Moore on August 8th, 1958, in Yates Center, Kansas. Together they had two children. She opened her own salon, Shirley’s Hair Style, in downtown El Dorado.

Shirley was a part of the Potwin Lions Club, she loved playing Bunco, going fishing, volunteering at the Marion Senior Center, and taking long drives through the beautiful flint hills.

Shirley will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family which includes her children, Harry and Terri Moore, of El Dorado, Kansas, and Sherri and Terry Wedel, of Potwin, Kansas; grandchildren, Brent, Michael (Amber), and Kelsi; great-grandchildren, Elle, Kelli, James; sister, Sandy Coryell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband Gerald Moore, and her sister Sharon Wilson.
Friends and family may gather at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday September 21st from 2-3pm for visitation. A memorial service will begin at 3pm on Thursday September 21st.

Memorial donations in her name may be directed towards the Potwin Lions Club.
