Raymond D. Deaton, son of John Earl and Maggie (Smith) Deaton was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on March 29, 1935. He moved to Oswego, Kansas in 1936 with his family. He attended all 12 grades of school in Oswego, Kansas. Raymond graduated from high school in 1953. He attended Coffeyville Junior College and faithfully served his country for two years in the United States Army.
Raymond married Dolly Stalford in 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. They lived in Oswego, Kansas until 1962, when they moved to El Dorado, Kansas. Raymond worked hard for his family, working for the Kansas Department of Transportation or KDOT from September of 1962 until retiring on June 1, 1995, working for 33 years.
Raymond passed away on September 15, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolly (December 1, 2018); his parents; sisters, Luellen Robison and Earlene Robison; infant brother, Joe L. Deaton; grandson, Nathan Lindsey; and infant great-grandson, Kade Miller.
Raymond was a family man and will be greatly missed by his son, Steve (Darla) Deaton; daughter, Brenda (Frank) Powell; grandchildren, Bethany Patty, Christy (Ryan) Oliver, Derek (Emily) Deaton, Mallory (Tyler) Goodrich, Frankie (Rochelle) Powell Jr., and Nicci Powell; great grandchildren, Treyton, Taegen, Tucker, Truett, Tysten, and Tannler Patty, Austin, Khloe, Hayden, Lily, and River Oliver, Adrik and Heidi Deaton, Owen, Kaidence, Brett, Carson and Reece Goodrich, Adrianna, Alivia, Hayley, Maddox, and Kingston Powell; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends may visit the funeral home while Raymond lays in state on Friday, September 17 from 2-5 and Monday, September 20 from 9-11. Due to the COVID-19 influx, private graveside services will be held.
