Kermit Keplar

September 3, 1956 ~ November 5, 2021 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Tribute

Kermit L Keplar of Rosalia, Kansas, having recently reached the age of 65, departed this earthly life on Friday, November 5, 2021 in the presence of loving family. He was born the youngest child of Arthur “Bud” Keplar and Mary (James) Keplar.
Loved by many for his sharp wit and blunt but lovable demeanor, Kermit was devoted to his family, friends and neighbors. He closely followed the school activities and sports of his sons and gave of his time as youth sports coach and 4-H leader for many years. In recent years, he found a renewed joy in following the sports activities of his grandson. He served as a school board member for USD #492 Flinthills and with various livestock organizations. He provided for his family as a 33-year employee at Boeing/Spirit AeroSystems. Alongside this devotion to his family and community, Kermit was a man of quiet faith.
He filled his time raising cattle, owning and showing antique tractors, hunting, reading, and watching TV westerns and movies. Kermit was never one to turn down a rousing game of cards, either. A cowboy at heart, Kermit said that he was born 100 years too late. With strong opinions and convictions, you pretty well knew where you stood with Kermit. He did not suffer fools gladly. If you were fortunate to be considered a friend, you had a loyal supporter for life.
Kermit will be deeply missed, and his memory held dear forever in the hearts of his adoring family: wife of 44 years, Deborah (McKenzie) Keplar; sons, Jacob (wife Amanda), and Caleb; grandson, Lucas; brothers Raymond Keplar and Paul Armstrong; sisters Mirla Bernasconi and Karen Klassen, many nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Reba.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Betty, Larry, Maxine, Peggy and Allan.
The family invites friends and neighbors to a memorial service in honor of Kermit’s memory on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 430 Eunice, El Dorado, Kansas. Cremation has already taken place. An inurnment will take place at Blankinship Cemetery at a later date.
