“J.R.” John Robert Hurlburt

“J.R.” John Robert Hurlburt, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the age of 64. J.R. was born on August 25, 1957 in El Dorado, Kansas to Jerry and Karen (McClelland) Hurlburt. He retired as a self-employed land surveyor. J.R. lived his life to fullest. He enjoyed playing ping pong and foosball, he had a love for music, really enjoyed knapping rocks into arrowheads, and enjoyed cooking. He loved bowling and hunting for arrowheads. J.R. also spent a lot of time in his younger days playing golf. J.R. was a very loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who is deeply missed. J.R. was a very proud dad and an even prouder grandpa.
J.R. is survived by his daughter, Meghan (Johnny) Michal; grandkids, McKorghan and Ruger Michal; sister, Lori (Seth) Turner; and nieces and nephews, Grace, Shane, and Luke Turner.
J.R. is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Karen (McClelland) Hurlburt; and brother, Chuck Hurlburt.
Memorial donations in J.R.’s name can be directed to Meghan Michal for the McKorghan and Ruger Michal College Fund.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2pm at the El Dorado State Park Shooting Facility, 2980 NE Shady Creek Access Rd., El Dorado, KS 67042.
