Donald "Vic" Victor Auer, a dedicated banker, beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away on February 8, 2024, in Andover, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to family and community.
Born on December 7, 1949, in Casper, Wyoming, to Hobart and Marjorie (Kandt) Auer, Jr., Vic grew up in Augusta, Kansas. He graduated from Augusta High School with the Class of 1968. He faithfully served in the United States Army.
Vic's career in banking spanned decades, during which he served with distinction at Walnut Valley State Bank, Commerce Bank, and Intrust Bank. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and community.
On April 21, 1973, Vic married the love of his life, Deborah Beyer, in Derby, Kansas. Together, they built a life centered on love, respect, and shared interests. Vic was a proud member of 4H, the American Legion, and Partners in Education.
Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Vic found joy in various pastimes, including golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and playing the card game Pitch at "The Shop." He cherished these moments spent with friends and family, creating lasting memories and forging strong bonds.
Vic's leadership extended to his involvement as the former post commander of the American Legion Post #1174, where he exemplified dedication and service to his fellow veterans.
Vic will be deeply missed by his wife, Deborah; his children, Julie (Patrick) Light and Brian Auer, both of El Dorado; his grandchildren, Alia and Emjay Light; his brother, Jim (Jean) Auer of Lumberton, Texas; his sister, Laura Swan of Augusta, Kansas; nephews, Carter Swan of Augusta, Darin Auer of Silsby, Texas, and Jerry Auer of Austin, Texas; as well as many step-siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Marjorie Auer, Jr., and his beloved dogs, Luke and Hank, who brought him immeasurable joy and companionship over the years.
A funeral service to honor Vic's life will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Carlson Colonial Chapel at 11:00 AM.
