Bobby "Bob" Wayne Rush

Bobby Rush’s life began on October 26, 1927 in Wellington, KS; the son of Leo and Lonnie (Evans) Rush. He grew up at Sedan, KS and graduated from high school there in 1946. Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army after graduation. He was united in marriage to Rita Brillhart on June 16, 1957 in Erie, KS. He then went on to graduate from Ottawa University, with an A.B. degree in 1951. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1956 with a M.S. degree and then from the University of Wyoming in 1960 with a Prof. Dip. In Education (Ed.S). Bobby completed additional graduate work at Emporia State University. He served as a teacher and principal in Humboldt, KS for 15 years and then moved to the El Dorado, KS school system where he served as an elementary principal and system administrator for 21 years. Bobby retired from his administrative position in June of 1987. Bobby enjoyed traveling, hunting for rocks that he would polish and set into jewelry; was a member of the Lions Club; enjoyed fishing and genealogy. He was especially proud to be ¼ Muscogee. Bobby’s family includes his wife, Rita of Augusta; and many extended family. Bobby passed away on July 10, 2021 at his home in Augusta. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and siblings Betty Lou Tower and Norman Donald Rush. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14 at 10 am at the First Christian Church of El Dorado. Bobby will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the First Christian Church of El Dorado, The Salvation Army or to Interim Hospice.
