Rick Cooper, 66, passed away on June 19, 2017 at home. He was born on February 7, 1951 in Humansville, Missouri to Coy and Donna Cooper (Fisher). The family moved to Benton, Kansas in 1957 where Rick attended Benton Grade School and Circle high school. It is here where he met the love of his life Della Bowlin. They were married on September 17th,1971. Rick served as a drill sergeant in the Army reserves from 1970 to 1971. The couple lived in the Towanda area.

Rick and Della were happily married for forty-five years. Rick was a loving father to three children. Julie (George) Scott, Kristi (Joe) Haag and Jacob (Tonya) Cooper. He also adored his eight grandkids, Logan Scott, Tyler Haag, Trenton Cooper, Lucas Scott, Trinity Cooper, Ryan Haag, Kirstyn Cooper, and Gavin Cooper.

Rick is also survived by his parents Coy and Donna Cooper, his sister Kathy (Mike) Afton, brother Jeff (Geni) Cooper, and sister Lesa (Eddie) Crain and fourteen nieces and nephews.

Rick was a friend to many and he never knew a stranger. His work ethic was impeccable and he leaves behind a legacy of honor and dedication for his family to follow. Rick was a life long Butler County 4-H volunteer and supporter. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle and hogs until his health began declining. He then turned that love of outdoors to gardening, birdwatching and taking care of his yard! Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending his grandkids' activities.

Friends may gather with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday June, 22 at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rick’s Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Towanda at 10 am on Friday June 23 led by Pastor Mike James. He will be laid to rest in the Benton Cemetery.
