Bernice’s life began on September 22, 1926 in Leon, KS. She was the daughter of Earl E. and Flossie A. (Gray) Banks. Bernice was a 1944 graduate of El Dorado High School. On January 24, 1945, she was united in marriage to William Raymond Kirkpatrick. While her husband co-owned the El Dorado Dairy, Bernice was a homemaker taking care of their three children. She did work for a few years as a cashier in the El Dorado Jr. High cafeteria. Bernice was a faithful member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School class, Lydia Circle, and A.B.W.A. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Connie (John) Andrews of El Dorado, Dennie (Diane) Kirkpatrick of Andover, and Vickie Kirkpatrick of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Brian Andrews of El Dorado, Joni (Joe) Rizzi of Frederick, CO, Brent (Christina) Kirkpatrick of Belleville, KS, Megan (Ryan) Barnes of Walpole, NH, and Sarah (Miles) Kolman of Chandler, AZ; great grandchildren includes Braden Andrews, Kayla Alexander, Braden Alexander, Briana Kolman, MacKenzie Kolman and Paige Barnes. Bernice passed away on June 4, 2017 at Kansas Heart Hospital in Andover, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond and brother Raymond Banks. Her family will gather with friends on Friday, June 9th from 5-8 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home where her funeral will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 2 p.m. led by Rev. Dr. Michael Blaine. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Bernice’s name may be directed to Park Avenue Baptist Church.
