Larry’s life began on December 10, 1938, the son of Luther and Edith (Crockett) Patton in El Dorado. He graduated from El Dorado High School Class of 1957, attended Butler County Community College and Wichita University (WSU now). Larry was united in marriage to Betty “Sandra” Locke on June 7, 1959, in El Dorado. He worked in El Dorado at Wynn-Warren IGA, Fina refinery, and Kansas Gas Service Company for 28 years. Larry was a member of the First Christian Church since he was 6 years old. There he became an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and loved to sing. He was a boy scout leader, loved to fish, hunt, camp, square dance and do woodworking projects.

His loving family includes his wife Sandra of almost 58 years, son and his wife, Daniel and Carol Patton of El Dorado; daughter and her husband, Susan and Jim Hoffmann of El Dorado, Kansas; brother-in-law, Bob Locke of Maize, Kansas; sister-in-law, Shirley Patton of El Dorado; grandchildren, Sara (Earl) Smith, Laura (Ben) Walsh, Jeremy Hoffmann, Tiffany (Stephen) Lovette; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Gavin, Kyndra and Wyatt Smith, Taii and Xavier Walsh, Madeline Lovette and Coban Honey.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dennis and Charles Patton and an infant son, Tony Patton. Larry passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, having reached the age of 78 years old.

His family will gather with friends on Friday, April 21, from 5-7 at the Carlson Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held, Saturday, April 22, at 10:00, at First Christian Church with Reverend Stan Seymour officiating. Larry will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery with a private family celebration.
