Kathryn Louise Martin

February 10, 1936 ~ February 26, 2024 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Kathryn Louise (Boyer) Martin, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior, February 26, 2024.

Kathy was born February 10, 1936 to John and Louise Seglem Boyer in El Dorado, KS.
She married her high school sweetheart, Keith, on July 18, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado. They lived in El Dorado except for a short time in the mid 60’s, when Keith was transferred to Seminole, OK with Continental Emsco. They missed their family and El Dorado and moved back as soon as they could.

After raising five daughters and being a stay-at-home mom, she became a business owner. First as a Professional Nanny Finder pairing college students with families and then she started Kathy’s Kitchen. She catered many events in the community and was famous for her homemade rolls.

Kathy was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs spanning 50 years. She was also always ready to play games with her daughters – hide and seek and rubber gun fights in the dark, water balloon throwing while dragging Central, and “Come As You Are” parties with her daughters’ friends. Her basement had a pool table, pinball machine, and a card table set up at all times. She loved having guests in her home and she used her gift of hospitality every day.

Kathy’s legacy in her community and church are seemingly endless. She loved foreign missions and traveled on many mission trips. Her favorite missionary, Jan Thompson, had a special place in her heart. She made numerous trips to Haiti to support Jan. She took Titus 2:3-5 to heart and had a ministry to young women in the community. Through Mothers and Others, she taught young women how to love their families well. She served on the board of the Family Life Center of Butler County-Safehouse, El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, Praire Port, EHS Alumni, and FBC Missions Committee. In the 1970’s she was chairman of the Butler Co Republican Women.

She is survived by daughters, Karla Pringle of El Dorado; Kaye (Rick) Laudner of Arlington, TX; Karyl (David) Rush of El Dorado; Kerri (Marv) Loucks of El Dorado and Kristi (Bob) Tiberg of Sparta, TN; grandchildren, Tysun (Paula) Pringle; Danae (Leonard) Johnson; Errett (Vicki) Rush; Katie (Mike) Sultany; Kyle Loucks; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Boyer of Hesston, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith; son-in-law, Steve Pringle; and great grand-daughter, Jayda Pringle.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, El Dorado. A reception will follow at the church.
