Betty Jordan, age 82, of El Dorado, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday, September 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, El Dorado.
Betty was born March 25, 1935, in Cloverdale, Kansas to Don and Faye Huntington in Moline, Kansas. She was raised in Moline and graduated from Moline High School in 1953. On June 7, 1953, she married Donald Jordan also in Moline. The couple moved to El Dorado on their wedding day and resided in El Dorado throughout their married life. She was a homemaker, worked at JC Penney’s and was a food service manager for Oil Hill Schools for 21 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Knife and Fork Club and attended the Community Concerts. Her volunteer work included delivering Meals on Wheels, taught Sunday school for 40 years, library volunteer at Oil Hill Elementary, and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She also transported ill children to the Shriner’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Her survivors include her daughters, Dana of El Dorado and Christie of Texas; brothers, Bob Huntington (Helen) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ed Huntington (Nancy) of Sedgwick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don Huntington and Faye Lawless; husband, Don Jordan; sisters, Nadine Denton and Donna Kill; brother, Ron Lawless.
