Art’s life began on December 20, 1948, the son of Marvin and Jeana (Pouche) Jenkinson in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Douglass High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Art served on the USS Luce and the USS Arlington and on swift boats in the “Brown Water Navy” during the Vietnam Era. He married Kathy Elaine Andrews on October 8, 1988, in El Dorado. Art participated in rodeo team roping, loved to garden, was a member of the Mulvane Marauders Car Club, and restored several 1970 Mopar automobiles. He loved car shows, fishing, hunting, and enjoyed watching Nascar, western movies, and basketball. Art retired from Texaco Refinery as the Coker Assistant Unit Foreman.
Art is survived by his loving family, his wife Kathy of the home; son, Andrew Jenkinson of Arapahoe, Colorado; daughter and her husband, Nikki and Chris Call of El Dorado; mother, Jeana Ingersoll; brother, Marvin Jenkinson of Moline, KS, sisters, Emma (Jim) Watson of Augusta, KS, Bea (Tracy) Call of Mulvane, Madonna (Tom) Moore, Linda (Greg) Schauner of Andover; 5 grandchildren, Heath and Jamie Jenkinson and Hayden, Jackson and Chloe Call and many loving nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Jenkinson. Art passed away, Friday, June 2, 2017, having reached the age of 68 years old.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be held Tuesday, June 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 430 Eunice in El Dorado, with Pastor Steve Hysom officiating. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
